PC gamers have a busy few days ahead. Two of the season’s most anticipated single-player releases, Silent Hill: Townfall and Control Resonant, are due on Steam within 24 hours of each other. Below are the release dates, prices and requirements listed on their Steam pages at the time of writing, along with the other new games Rock Paper Shotgun has flagged for the week of 21 September. Requirements and prices can change before launch, so check the store page before you buy.
Silent Hill: Townfall
The first Silent Hill game from Screen Burn, the studio behind Stories Untold, launches on 23 September. Steam describes the story as one of a man, Simon Ordell, who returns to an island town to “put things right” and descends into a world of tense evasion, explosive confrontations and mind-bending puzzles. Rock Paper Shotgun’s review calls it an often inspired but slightly lumbering trek into the fog, and a writer in the site’s weekly roundup said it was good apart from the time spent cowering in wardrobes.
Control Resonant
Remedy Entertainment’s action-adventure RPG follows Dylan Faden through a warped Manhattan on the brink of what the studio calls “paranatural annihilation”, as he fights for his humanity against a reality-bending cosmic threat. It launches on 24 September and, unusually for a big release, lists an SSD as a requirement.

Konami and Annapurna say the minimum specification for Townfall should give low settings at 1080p and 30 frames per second, and the recommended specification should give high settings at 4K and 30 fps using DLSS, FSR or TSR in Balanced mode. Neither game’s Steam page promises a higher frame rate, so if you want 60 fps or more you should plan for a stronger PC than the recommended list.

Meanwhile, at Tokyo Game Show
The game industry’s big Tokyo event lost its final day. Organisers of Tokyo Game Show cancelled Monday 21 September, which was meant to be the first five-day show in the event’s 30-year history, because of Typhoon Dujuan, the 25th named typhoon of 2026. Tickets for the day will be refunded, PC Gamer reported, citing Kotaku and the Japan Times, and heavy rain of up to around 16 inches was forecast for the Tokyo region.
Buying advice
With two big games arriving back to back, consider waiting for launch-day performance reports if your PC is close to the minimum specification, and check that your SSD has enough room for a 120 GB install before Control Resonant unlocks.
